As queer, bi and trans people, we've not only been hurt by being human, we've also been wounded because of homophobia, biphobia or transphobia. The hatred and disrespect has taken a toll on us, making us need help with being ourselves more fully and with having pride in ourselves and our relationships.
Maybe you've also been physically attacked or physically abused. All this wounding is held in our psyches as well as our bodies. I work in a integrated mind-body approach to help you develop a self-observing approach to your problems and decisions. I explain my counseling approach more on this page.
The families and loved ones of LGBT people have been wounded too. Society can be harsh to them too for loving LGBT, Queer and Questioning people. I work with the families and loved ones of trans and queer people.
LGBT Positive Therapy
Being lesbian, bi, gay or queer is a normal expression of human sexual orientation
that poses no obstacle to leading a happy, healthy, and
productive life. There is no question about this when queer and bi people associate with understanding, accepting people. The same is true for trans people.
When LGBT people are respected, they lead happy, productive lives. Some of them choose to have families and raise children. The therapy I provide comes from the scientific and life experiences that show that being LGBT is healthy.
Attempts to change people's sexual orientation or their gender identity come from mistaken assumptions. Ex-gay therapy has done real harm. So-called reparative therapy for for gay or trans people harms them. I help people become more fully lesbian, gay, queer, bi or trans.
